Buddy Knox is a Blues Artist who formed the Buddy Knox Blues Band in 2007. Since then, Buddy’s musical progress has been pretty exciting, with performances at some of the biggest music festivals in Australia. Buddy plays funky music and his passion for the blues is obvious, with lightning speed licks and riffs on a 335 Gibson, he promises his blues show will “smoke ya boots!”.
Buddy’s blues influences include all the Kings: Freddie, Albert and BB, Robert Johnson, Robert Cray, Sonny Terry, Brownie McGhie, Albert Collins and Delbert McClinton. He has a vast knowledge of the old blues men and a great respect for their work.
Buddy achieved Australian Industry recognition through the National Chain Awards for Excellence in Blues Music, winning Best New Blues Talent (2009) He was also nominated and became a finalist for Male Vocal and Producer of the Year in the National Chain Awards 2009. He went on to win the Male Vocal of the Year 2012 at these same Awards.
Buddy’s second album, “Buddy’s Blues”, was self-funded and was released in January 2011. This album presents some of Buddy’s original works, and was co-produced by
Buddy in Newcastle and released in January 2011. “Buddy’s Blues” was Buddy’s finalist nomination for Album of the Year at the 2011 Deadly’s, and also made Buddy a finalist in the APRA Development Awards for Songwriters in 2011, and was nominated for an ARIA in the Blues and Roots Category in 2011. “Buddy’s Blues” was entered in the 2012International Blues Challenge, Best Self Produced CD.
